How To Prevent Dental Injuries

  1. Wear a mouthguard for all contact sports, especially football, hockey, basketball, soccer, futbol, and martial arts.
  2. Make sure your mouthguard is not damaged or distorted. If so, replace.
  3. Be aware and cautious during your sports activities.
  4. Prominent teeth are particularly more likely to have damage and orthodontic treatment can reduce risk of dental trauma.
  5. Get a dental examination at least once per year and have your dentist review the quality of your mouthguard.
  6. Always wear a seatbelt when riding in a vehicle.
  7. Do not place foreign objects in your mouth.
