July 2025 President’s Message

Dear IADT Family,

As we move into the second half of 2025, I would like to take a moment to thank all the people whose hard work and dedication make the IADT the amazing association it is. Countless people are working behind the scenes to support and advance our association. Their tireless work is evident in every aspect of the IADT. Due to the large number of people involved in the IADT organization, I will resist the temptation to identify each person in a group by name.

First, I would like to thank the members of the Executive Committee, our leadership team, who meet regularly and deal with the operational work and the thorny issues that inevitably confront any association. A big thanks also to the IADT Directors, who as members of the board, steer the IADT and keep it moving forward with a clear vision driven by IADT’s goals and mission. Special appreciation is also due to all the IADT members who serve on the various committees of our organization. Their hard work, creativity, and insights are critically important for our association. A special thank you is due to all our members, who are scattered across the globe, for supporting the mission of the IADT, for being part of this great family, and for dedicating their time, efforts, skills, and enthusiasm to improving the lives of dental trauma victims around the world.

Finally, I want to thank the caring and competent professionals at RES Inc., our management company in San Diego, California (USA), for their wide-ranging work and support that goes on 24-7 in keeping the IADT on top of an exhaustive list of day-to-day administrative and management tasks. Although heard frequently, it truly does take a village to ensure the smooth running and effectiveness of any organization. We are fortunate that the IADT has that village.

Realizing that time is passing rapidly, remember to mark your calendars for the 23rd World Congress of Dental Traumatology, scheduled for September 3-5, 2026, in Warsaw, Poland. This congress promises to be a record-breaking event with great hands-on workshops, enlightening lectures, and rousing social activities that will leave us all amazed and better able to handle the challenges of dental and oral trauma.

Global Dental & Oral Trauma Day is rapidly approaching on the calendar. This special day is scheduled for September 21 this year and on the same date in subsequent years. It is a day to celebrate and recognize the importance of dental and oral trauma and the impact it has on the lives of its victims and the professionals who diagnose and treat these victims worldwide. It also highlights the dental community’s role in managing dental trauma and the standout role that IADT plays in the field. I encourage you to contact us with any original ideas on how to make this day even more meaningful.

Finally, I am very excited to report that our official journal, Dental Traumatology, recently achieved a historic step forward. In the recently published Impact Factor and Journal Ranking list, Dental Traumatology ranked in the top quartile (Q1)(33/162) in the category “DENTISTRY, ORAL SURGERY & MEDICINE” for the first time since the journal’s inaugural issue was published in 1985. The impact factor increased from 2.3 in 2023 to 3.1 in 2024. This is an incredible achievement and a great testament to the high quality of the journal and the increasing importance of dental traumatology in the health professions worldwide. It is also a reflection of the higher quality of research being conducted in dental trauma and is bolstered by advancements in technology and more sophisticated methods of research. I feel fortunate to serve as your Editor-in-Chief of this journal and to work with a great team of associate editors, editorial board members, reviewers, authors, and you the readers! We can all be immensely proud of this historic achievement.
