Dear IADT Family,
We are almost there!!! The excitement continues to build each day as I look forward to meeting each one of you and personally welcoming you to the premier dental traumatology conference in the world. By now, you know I am referring to the 23rd World Congress on Dental Traumatology (WCDT2026), which will be held in Warsaw, Poland, September 3–5, 2026. If you have not yet registered for this outstanding biennial event, do not wait any longer to secure your spot! You will experience an exceptional congress featuring a world-class scientific program, a wealth of informative poster presentations, and an exciting lineup of social events designed to connect colleagues from around the globe. I truly look forward to welcoming you to Warsaw and seeing you at WCDT2026!
As you may recall, last year the IADT and The Dental Trauma Guide (Copenhagen) agreed to join forces to develop the most comprehensive and clearly defined classification of tooth resorption ever created. A joint committee, under the able leadership of Professor Paul Abbott, former Editor-in-Chief of Dental Traumatology, accepted the challenging task of developing an international consensus on the terminology and descriptions of the many types of tooth resorption, as well as related pathologies and conditions. I am delighted to report that the committee’s work is now in its final stages, with the goal of publishing its conclusions and a definitive lexicon of terms and definitions late this year or early in 2027.
Following close on the heels of WCDT 2026 is “Global Dental and Oral Trauma Day (GDOTD),” a special day set aside annually on September 21st to recognize, promote, and encourage the prevention and proper management of traumatic dental and oral injuries around the world. Please join us again and invite your colleagues, patients, and communities to help promote and celebrate this special day. I encourage you to share your experiences and thoughts with us on social media. You will find many exciting features related to this special day on our website and on our social media pages. Additional information will be available soon on how you can engage, contribute, and support this special mission.
